BOTOX vs. Dysport – Which is the Better Option for You?

Almost all of us have heard of BOTOX at some point in time. However, do you know how it works? Dysport, an alternative to BOTOX, is also used for treating fine lines and wrinkles. If you want to eliminate wrinkles in the face, New England Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center can help you determine which option is best for you.

How Do Dysport and BOTOX Work?

With age, the skin becomes thinner. When this happens, the skin can begin to crease with muscle movement. Both BOTOX and Dysport prevent wrinkles because they lessen that muscle movement. As the muscles quit contracting as much, the skin quits creasing.

The results are long-lasting. Even as you gain movement again in your muscles, it’ll take time for the process to repeat itself and for lines to come back. With every treatment, the muscle will become less active. Why is this? As muscles remain still for lengthy time periods, they’ll thin out from a lack of use.

Consider what occurs as an arm is in a cast. The muscles do not move for the whole time. As the cast is removed, the arm will lack strength due to atrophy. These treatments operate the same way. With each treatment, the facial muscles will remain relaxed for some time after and wrinkles and lines will not come back for some time.

Dysport and BOTOX: What’s the Difference?

Dysport and BOTOX work similarly. The molecules have biologic processor proteins wrapped around the active portion of the main ingredient. But the proteins differ in molecules. Many patients cannot tell the difference between the two treatments. Some research shows that Dysport might last longer around your eyes. Dysport also diffuses more evenly throughout the skin. However, every case is unique.

Is My Face Going to Appear Frozen?

Frozen face expressions can result from overuse of either treatment. But our skilled professional will not allow this to happen. We will recommend which treatment is best for you and administer a suitable amount to achieve the desired results.
