How Long Does Dysport Usually Last?

Skin aging is normal, but it can cause low self-confidence and dissatisfaction with your appearance. If you’re worried about small lines and wrinkles, reach out to us at New England Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center in Weymouth, MA. We offer several minimally invasive solutions. Dysport is one of our most popular injectables because it provides long-lasting, excellent results.

How Long Does Dysport Usually Last?

This treatment contains a neurotoxic protein called ABO, which relaxes the muscles and prevents them from producing the facial expressions that cause wrinkling. It quickly and effectively improves the patient’s appearance and prevents the formation of new lines. Because ABO gets absorbed and broken down by the body, the results aren’t permanent.

You can expect the effects to last for around three to four months, so you might have to come to the clinic once every twelve to sixteen weeks. You’re likely to experience more long-lasting results if you take great care of your skin in between appointments and get treated by an experienced professional. Genetic factors and your metabolism also affect the longevity of the treatment.

When Can I Expect the Results to Become Visible?

Unlike many other injectable treatments, ABO sessions yield almost instant results. When you leave the clinic, you’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Your skin might already look healthier and younger, and you’ll notice that your tissues are plumper than before. It’s important to remember that this initial effect is temporary. It is a result of the injections, not the treatment itself.

The active ingredient takes some time to start relaxing the muscles and creating the desired effects. Most patients start to notice more permanent results after three to five days. We sometimes ask people to come back to the clinic a few weeks after their session. During this consultation, we determine whether any follow-up treatments are necessary.

How to Keep the Results Fresh

You can do several things to keep your results fresh for many months after your initial appointment. The most important guideline is to avoid exposing your treatment area to excessive amounts of sunlight. UV radiation damages the DNA in the skin cells and therefore accelerates aging. Always stay in the shade as much as possible, and wear sunscreen when you go outside.

Avoid drinking a lot of alcohol and consuming nicotine because these substances damage and dry out the skin. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to make sure your body is getting the vitamins and minerals it needs to rejuvenate your cells. Drink 11-16 cups of water a day. This keeps your tissues healthy and allows your body to flush out harmful substances.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

This cosmetic injectable is quite versatile, and it can be injected into the forehead, around the eyes, around the mouth and nose, into the chin, and into the neck. If you’re starting to notice fine lines and wrinkles in any of these areas, you could be a good candidate. You can take part in neuromodulator treatment at any age, as long as you’re an adult and in good general health.

We can’t treat people who are suffering from a major health issue or taking certain medications. We also can’t work with anyone who has an infection or a serious skin condition in the treatment area. Women who are pregnant aren’t good candidates because there isn’t enough proof that neurotoxins are safe for unborn children.

What Is the Appointment Like?

Because neurotoxin injections are minimally invasive, patients don’t have to go through a painful recovery period. We always numb the area with a cream or local anesthetic before we begin, so the injections aren’t painful. Once the treatment is over, the patient can return home and resume most regular activities.

We usually recommend that people don’t participate in strenuous physical activity or any activity that heats up the skin too much for at least 48 hours after the appointment. This is because the body needs some time to absorb the ABO and recover from the injections.

Why Not Use BOTOX or XEOMIN?

All three treatments can provide patients with excellent results, but they are subtly different. ABO injections typically provide people with faster results, so they are an excellent solution for those who have an important event coming up in a week or so. This injectable is also more likely to diffuse than BOTOX because the molecular weight isn’t as consistent. This makes it perfect for people with lots of very fine wrinkles.

During your initial consultation, we’ll take a close look at your facial features to determine which of these treatments is suitable for you. You might need a single set of injections or a combination of several neuromodulators.

Get Rid of the Signs of Aging with Neuromodulator Treatment

Dysport is an excellent treatment for anyone who would like to get rid of fine lines or wrinkles. The results can last for up to sixteen weeks at a time, so patients only have to come to the clinic three or four times a year.
