What Do They Do?
A brow and forehead lift improves sagging skin on the forehead, upper eyelids and eyebrows. It is often done to reduce the look of wrinkles while bringing new life to sagging skin.

How Do They Work?

Before the surgeon begins the procedure, he will either use a local or general anesthesia in order to provide comfort throughout the entire process. There are two basic methods when it comes to brow and forehead lifts.

The endoscopic lift tends to be less invasive than the classic lift and requires less recovery time. The classic lift also has more risk of scarring. The procedure usually takes up to two hours. Once the surgeon is finished, he will close up the incisions with stitches or staples, disinfect the area and bandage the face.

How to Prepare

Most patients will be asked to withdrawal from things such as smoking, alcohol consumption or certain medications. In order to prepare for the trip home after the procedure, make sure the house contains plenty of gauze, clean towels, pillows, ice bags and medicated ointment.

What to Expect Afterward

The stitches or staples should be ready to come out in about one week. For at least two days after the surgery, the head will need to stay elevated in order to reduce the risk of infection and ease swelling. Often, swelling, bruising and redness can be a side effect but should clear up within a week.

The classic method comes with more pain than the endoscopic method, but both come with side effects that include itching, numbness or tingling. All of these can last up to two months, but will ease as time progresses. Most people are able to return to work within 10 days but are encouraged to avoid heavy lifting and vigorous activities for at least three weeks.

The side effects are minimal and low on pain. Even though the effects can be irritating, the results are worth it when wrinkles and sagging skin cease to exist. Women are encouraged to talk to their doctor about brow or forehead lifting procedures that could work for them and to schedule a consultation today.
