A mini facelift may be a great fit for you if you have concerns about facial aging signs but you’re satisfied with the appearance of your midface. We are excited to offer this procedure at New England Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center in Boston, MA because we understand that a full facelift is too extensive for some individuals, but everyone deserves to feel confident in their appearance. Keep reading to learn more about who qualifies for a mini lift of the face.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

As a general rule of thumb, you will be considered a good candidate for a mini facelift if you are concerned about the appearance of your neck, jawline, or chin. Also, if you are in relatively good health, there is a good chance you will qualify for this procedure. Nonetheless, it is imperative that you discuss your health in detail with an aesthetic surgeon to verify this procedure will be safe for you.

Some medical conditions that will disqualify you include high blood pressure, heart disease, and blood clotting disorders. You also may be considered a poor fit if you have a history of keloid scarring.

Am I Too Young for This Procedure?

If you’re an adult, you don’t need to worry about being considered too young for a miniature facelift. Generally, people don’t come in for anti-aging cosmetic surgery until they are at least in their early 40s. However, you should know that several factors affect the rate at which the skin ages, including tobacco smoke exposure, genetics, sun exposure, and a poor diet.

How Will I Need to Prepare for My Procedure?

We will advise you on everything you need to do to prepare for your miniature facelift during your initial consultation. Remember, you will be deemed a poor fit for surgery if your blood pressure is too high or your blood can’t clot normally. Therefore, you will need to prepare for your procedure by not taking any blood thinners or consuming substances like alcohol or tobacco that affect blood pressure.

It is also an excellent idea to prepare for your procedure by having your prescriptions filled in advance and making sure you have a ride to and from your procedure. If possible, arrange for someone to care for you during the first one to three days post-op. You will feel extremely tired and may find you need help keeping yourself hydrated and well-nourished. Also, do not get any potentially irritating cosmetic treatments in the days leading up to your procedure.

What Can I Expect After My Procedure?

As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to return to work just one week after your lower facelift. Just two weeks after your procedure, you should be able to resume your entire usual routine, including strenuous physical activities. Just keep in mind that you will not be able to drive within 24 hours of taking a prescription analgesic that can slow your reaction time.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Facelift?

You may be considered a good facelift candidate if you have concerns about your lower face and midface. It can be used to smooth cheek folds and make other improvements in your midface in addition to improving the appearance of your jawline and chin.

What If Surgery Is a Poor Fit for Me?

If surgery is a poor fit for you, don’t worry. There are a number of non-invasive anti-aging techniques that may be a better fit. For example, if you have concerns about moderate or severe volume loss, there are a number of injectable dermal fillers that can help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Depending on your medical history, cosmetic concerns, and goals, you may be a great fit for Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, or Radiesse injections.

If you have concerns about wrinkles caused by hyperactive muscles, an injectable muscle relaxant may be a good fit for you. If you’ve never suffered from anaphylactic shock and you aren’t allergic to the bovine protein, Dysport or Botox may be a good fit for you. However, depending on your health history and goals, Xeomin may be a better fit for you.

Am I a Good Candidate for Injectable Dermal Fillers?

The only way to find out for sure whether injectable dermal fillers are appropriate for you is to attend an initial evaluation. You can generally expect to be a good Radiesse candidate if you have volume loss in your body, like your chest or the backs of your hands. You can generally expect to be a good Juvederm candidate if you are concerned about the appearance of your face.

Am I a Good Candidate for Injectable Muscle Relaxants?

Injectable muscle relaxants may be appropriate for you if you have dynamic wrinkles and do not take oral muscle relaxants.
