Are bags and wrinkles around your eyes making you look older than you are? Do you want to have a procedure to address these problems and give your face an overall younger and less tired appearance?
Then it’s time to consider an eyelid lift at New England Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center in Weymouth, Mass. Our team is led by Dr. John B. Lazor, a cosmetic surgeon with years of experience and numerous patients who are glad they came to him for help improving their appearance – and taking years off their faces.
Aging is part of life, and as we do, skin loses elasticity. This and other factors cause skin to sag in the area of your upper and lower eyelids. Extra skin on lower eyelids lead to wrinkles and bags.
Extra skin folds on your upper eyelids can droop over lashes, and even impact your vision.
If you are unhappy with extra skin around the eyelids, you may be a candidate for blepharoplasty, the medical term for an eyelid lift.
This surgical procedure removes extra skin, muscle and fatty tissue around your eyes that are causing you to look older.
Primarily performed as a cosmetic procedure, eyelid lifts also are done for health reasons, such as improving obstructed vision, usually in older patients with saggy upper eyelids.
At New England Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center, Dr. Lazor can use his skills and experience to reduce or eliminate impaired vision. This surgery also restores your youthful appearance, giving you a more attractive and vital look.
Blepharoplasty has long been considered a safe and effective surgery. Our team will review your medical history with you and answer any questions you may have.
Am I a Candidate for Eyelid Lift Surgery?
The best candidates for this surgery are in good overall health and come into the process with realistic expectations of what they can achieve. A positive outlook is also a plus!
This procedure offers the best results in patients who are non-smokers and do not have other medical conditions that might hinder healing.
Typically, most patients who have this procedure are older than 35. But if you have a family history of droopy or baggy eyelids, you may want to have surgery when you are younger.
Remember, eyelid lift surgery can improve your appearance and boost self-confidence, but it’s not designed to change facial structure.
A thorough consultation with your surgeon is vital before you make any decision about surgery. Dr. Lazor and our staff will speak with you about your past and present medical conditions, medications you take, and the pros and cons of eyelid lift surgery.
Physical exams and eyelid measurements are part of the process as well.
At New England Cosmetic, we’re honest with our patients about procedures they are considering. We don’t perform unnecessary procedures and patient safety is our top concern.
Most patients will be prescribed lubricating ointment after surgery to better protect the eyes and to prevent dryness. This treatment is temporary, and it may cause temporary blurred vision in some patients. Some patients also have excessive tearing, sensitivity to light and double vision immediately after surgery. But these side effects are temporary.
Your stitches are typically taken out within a week. Some patients may have minor swelling or discomfort, but these issues also fade soon after surgery.
Post-surgical pain and swelling is usually not severe and can be reduced with ice, cold compresses and pain relievers.
Beneficial results from eyelid surgery appear over time after bruising subsides. Most patients find themselves with an improved appearance, happy to be no longer burdened by bags and wrinkles.
If you want to lose unattractive signs of aging around your eyes, or if skin issues are impacting your vision, it may be time for you to consider eyelid surgery.
