How Often Can You Get BOTOX?

At New England Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center in Weymouth, MA, our passion lies in helping our clients feel as good about themselves as possible. That’s why we proudly offer a variety of aesthetic treatments, including BOTOX, an injectable neuromodulator that can correct many concerns. Today, we’re answering some of the most-asked questions we get about this treatment, including how often you can be treated.

How Often Can You Get BOTOX?

You can come in for BOTOX injections as soon as you notice your optimal results start to fade. It is not uncommon for people who have never received this treatment before to need a touch-up session just a couple of months after their first appointment. However, you can generally expect to enjoy your desired results for three to four months once you start getting regular treatments.

What Can I Do To Make My Results Last Longer?

One of the best things you can do to extend the longevity of your results is to come in for regular injection sessions. The weaker your overactive muscles are, the longer it will take for them to wrinkle again. After several sessions, you may be able to enjoy your desired results for up to six months. Managing stress as well as you can is another great way to extend the longevity of your results.

Stress affects your appearance negatively in many ways. For example, dynamic wrinkles and folds may reappear faster because stress causes you to tense your facial muscles. Furthermore, stress increases your body’s rate of cortisol production. This hormone damages the collagen and elastin that play vital roles in keeping your skin smooth. You should also eat nutritiously, stay hydrated, and refrain from smoking.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

To find out if BOTOX is the best treatment for you, attending an initial consultation is required. We will evaluate your areas of concern to confirm that an injectable neuromodulator can address your concerns effectively. Some of the concerns most commonly treated with this injectable include crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, and forehead folds. However, you can also benefit from this treatment if you have muscle-related medical problems.

We also need to ensure that this treatment will be safe for you before we can advise you on whether you are a good candidate. Most relatively healthy adults qualify, but this treatment is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for people who have a bleeding disorder or any other medical condition that can affect your treatment.

What Should I Avoid Before My Treatment Session?

Before your injections are administered, it is important that you don’t smoke or drink alcohol for 24 hours. You also should avoid taking any medications that could affect your treatment, like anticoagulants, blood thinners, oral muscle relaxants, and some sleep aids. Furthermore, you should avoid sunburn and other forms of skin irritation. If your targeted areas are irritated, your treatment will be postponed.

What Should I Expect After My Treatment Session?

After your injections have been administered, you will not feel any pain or discomfort. We will remind you of the aftercare guidelines you need to follow, and you are welcome to ask any questions you may have. After that, you should be able to return to work. There is no downtime required after this non-surgical anti-aging treatment, but you may need a day or two off from work depending on the nature of your job.

What Should I Avoid After My Treatment?

Once your injections have been administered, it is important that you avoid intense physical activity, like lifting heavy weights, and other situations that cause sweating. It is also important that you avoid lying down for at least four hours after your injections have been administered. Furthermore, you need to avoid applying too much pressure to your treated areas.

How Soon Will I Be Able To See My Results?

You should not expect to see your desired results as soon as your treatment is complete. Rather, it will be between one and four days before you start seeing a reduction in your dynamic wrinkles. It may take between 10 and 14 days for your final results to become apparent.

Is There Anything I Can Do To See My Results Faster?

There are several things you can do to see your desired BOTOX results faster. One of the most effective things you can do is to take a zinc supplement every day. You should also exercise the treated muscles dozens of times daily until you are satisfied with your appearance. Maintaining a healthy diet is another effective way to see faster results. You should aim to eat plenty of protein and micronutrients daily.

Schedule Your Initial Consultation Today

You can get touch-up BOTOX treatments as needed. Generally, the results of this treatment last for three to four months. However, you may need to come in for a touch-up just two months after your first injection session, and, eventually, you may only need two appointments annually. To learn more about this incredible treatment, schedule an evaluation with us today at New England Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center in Weymouth, MA.
