Address Signs of Aging with a Facelift

facelift

Loose, sagging skin on the face is nearly always the result of age-related factors. These include less moisture retention and a decrease in the amount of important proteins in the skin layers. Sagging skin also creates wrinkles and folds, and these are unwanted visual signs of aging. The good news is, there’s a rather simple fix, and it’s a facelift.

A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, used to be a complicated procedure that often produced undesirable results. Today, however, this type of treatment is performed in a different manner. In fact, each facelift surgery is carefully customized in order to achieve maximum results. If you’re unfamiliar with how a facelift is performed and what it can treat, let us clear up some misconceptions.

What a Facelift Treats

For the most part, the procedure improves the overall appearance of the skin surface. Relaxation of the facial skin and the resulting sagging generally occurs near the jawline and also on the upper portion of the neck. Fold lines that develop between the nose and the mouth are common in individuals past a certain age.

Jowl development occurs when the cheek skin sags and also when this rolled skin accumulates fat. Wrinkles below the eyes are the result of fat buildup and also skin that contains very little collagen. A facelift can help improve all of the above-mentioned problems.

Consultation and Treatment

This is a surgical procedure, so some pre-treatment care is required on the part of the client. During the consultation, we’ll outline the type of rhytidectomy we feel will produce the desired results. We’ll give you information that describes how to care for the facial skin in the weeks leading up to the surgery.

During a traditional facelift, the surgeon is able to remove fat deposits and excess skin. The surgeon may also remove or reposition small areas of fat or muscle tissue. In the end, the skin will be flatter, and the surface smoother.

After Treatment

There is a recovery period involved after a facelift. It’s important to follow our team’s instructions during this time. Once you have fully healed, you can enjoy the results of the procedure for years to come. That’s because a facelift is a more permanent fix than non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
