How Can You Get Rid of Lines Around the Mouth? Discover Restylane

Aging, repeated facial expressions, and a variety of other factors can cause lines and wrinkles to appear around your mouth area. But if you’re not happy with the way these lines look, there are ways you can reduce and even eliminate them. At the New England Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center in Weymouth, MA, we offer Restylane to help you look as young as you feel.

How Can You Get Rid of Lines Around the Mouth? Discover Restylane

What Is It?

Restylane is a range of facial fillers designed to help smooth out wrinkles. There are several different types, all of which provide different benefits to different areas of the face.

This filler is made with an ingredient called hyaluronic acid. This ingredient occurs naturally in the human body. You find most of it in the skin, connective tissue, and the eyes. Hyaluronic acid works by binding to water, which in turn is what allows your skin and connective tissue to stay hydrated.

This treatment is used primarily to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on and around the face.

How Does It Help Lines Around the Mouth?

Like we said, this filler is made with hyaluronic acid. Because hyaluronic acid binds to water, it helps your skin maintain moisture. It is naturally present in the body, but as we get older the amount of hyaluronic acid present in our bodies begins to diminish. This means that our skin becomes drier and more prone to sagging and wrinkles.

This treatment injects hyaluronic acid directly back into the skin. This makes skin firmer, more supple and gives it more volume. This volume, in turn, will get rid of wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth while also attracting more moisture and hydration to the area.

What Are the Different Kinds?

Restylane is a brand of facial fillers, and there are several different types. Each type helps different parts of your face. The first type is Silk, which was the first facial filler designed for lip augmentation and for getting rid of wrinkles around the mouth area approved by the FDA. Refyne and Defyne are both used to eliminate wrinkles that show up around your nose and the corners of your mouth.

There is also Lyft, which can be used to make cheeks look fuller and redefine the mid-face area. The simply-named Restylane is used to help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles overall, augment the lips, and get rid of dark circles under the eyes.

You can speak to your dermatologist about the different types of Restylane available and the areas of your face you want to target. They will help you determine which type is right for you.

How Do You Prepare for Treatment?

If you are looking to eliminate wrinkles and lines around your mouth, then booking an appointment at our clinic is the first step. In the two weeks leading up to your appointment, there are certain things that you should avoid. You should avoid taking any aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and St. John’s Wort. These medications can all cause bruising if you’re getting Restylane injection, so it’s best not to take them.

What Happens During the Treatment?

These treatments are fast, easy, and completely safe. Our highly-trained team will provide you with these injections in a comfortable, welcoming environment.

During your treatment sessions, a very fine needle will be used to incrementally inject portions of the filler into your skin around your mouth area. Once the area that is being treated has been cleaned, our technicians will begin injecting the filler.

The procedure is very simple and quick. One of the benefits of this filler is that you’ll see immediate results.

What Happens After the Treatment?

Since injections are not a surgical treatment, you’ll be able to leave the clinic right away once the treatment is finished. You may find that you’re experiencing some minor swelling and tenderness around the injection sites, but this will go away quickly.

This filler works right away, so immediately after your treatment is finished, you’ll be able to see a difference in your skin. The area around your mouth should look fuller, smoother, and more supple. However, as time goes on, you will see even more changes to the treated area. Generally, full results can be seen within a week of treatment.

Because these injections are not permanent fillers, you may need to return to your dermatologist to get more injections. Depending on the type of Restylane that you had injected, you can expect your filler to last for around 6 to 18 months. Your dermatologist will help you determine when the best time to come in for your next injection is.
